How Effective Is Shakeology?
First off, let me tell you how SKEPTICAL I was about trying this product. I am a school teacher, and money certainly doesn’t grow on trees around here. So when I was told this product was 129.95, I said yea…whatever, I won’t be buying that one!!! That’s got to be a gimmick right?!? Well, I began to think more about this product and how I wanted to take my gains to the NEXT level, so I started some research (I invite you to do the same). I literally researched this product for days on end, and I ran across zero…yes, zero negative feedback from anyone who had actually purchased and used Shakeology. Note: I pretty much discredited anyone’s opinion who didn’t actually purchase and try the product. There are folks out there who hate it because of price, or tried 1 sample of a flavor they didnt like and gave up. To me, those weren’t valid opinions. I wanted to know how people who truly used the product liked it, and what kind of results they were getting. I was very impressed with what I found, and I decided to convince my wife that investing the money on my health was a good idea…. so I gave it a shot!
I will start off by stating that I am very biased about Shakeology, and I have used it for over three years now. I have this stance on the product, because I have seen what it has done for me and my family. Although I consider Shakeology to be “Cadillac” of nutritional shakes, it is certainly not the only way to lose weight. However, it is an excellent way and has certainly done wonders for my and my family. Here are a just a few highlights:
- I personally lost about 40 lbs while using Shakeology (and exercising).
- My wife, Jessica, lost about 25 lbs on Shakeology (and exercising).
- My mom lost about 20 lbs, and during this time started to take better care of herself. Although she no longer uses Shakeology, she did QUIT SMOKING about the same time she started to use it. She has remained a non-smoker for about 2 years now.
- Father in law was borderline diabetic, and started using Shakeology. He lost about 45 lbs, and his health is great now.
- Mother in law also lost between 15-20 lbs (honestly cannot recall the exact number, but she did great).
Shakeology has worked for me, my family, and for many people I have coached online. I truly believe in this product, and I highly recommend it to anyone who wishes to quickly drop some weight and improve their overall health.
How to use Shakeology?
I’m a huge fan of quick and easy, so my recipe for Shakeology is just that. I prefer to use my Shakeology for breakfast, as that’s usually the easiest meal to skip during the day. Using Shakeology for breakfast ensures that my body is going to get some very high quality nutrients to start off my day. This recipe keeps me going all through the morning, and doesn’t leave me hurting for food and starving at about 10 in the morning. I’m generally good to go until lunch, or my mid-morning snack. Anyway, here’s my favorite recipe:
- Add 10-12 ice cubes in a blender
- 1 scoop of Chocolate Shakeology
- 1 tablespoon of Natural Peanut butter. (I like Smucker’s, but I have used the PB2 and like that as well.)
- 1-2 scoops of Whey protein. This is not necessary at all, but I like to add the whey protein as it digests more slowly and keeps me feeling full for longer. Also, with my current goals of cutting fat, I need to be hitting somewhere around 40-45% of my cals as protein, so adding the extra in my Shakeology helps. Again, this is NOT necessary… it’s just what I like to do.
- Add water until you reach your preferred consistency. I like it to make mine about as thick as a milkshake. I do not at all like it where it’s watery as I think too much water kills the flavor. You will have to play around with it a bit to see what you like. Generally 8-10 oz of water is a good starting point. Oh, you can also use Almond Milk in your shake as well… it’s really good if you don’t mind the few extra calories.

I have actually had customer service send me free workout DVDs as replacements whenever I accidentally scratched mine… but that’s another story.
